Boater

My grandfather having adapted his father's trade of coffin making to boat making—he made small flat-bottomed paddle boats for fishing—my brother, father, and I always had use of a boat. As a boy I often boated down the Licking River on camping trips. We also used a boat on ponds to gig bullfrogs (frog legs having been a popular delicacy at our house). In 1976 I occasionally operated a small gasoline-engine-powered "paddlewheeler"—Klondike Kate—as part of my duties as general manager of Yukon River Tours (see Riverboat Manager). I am also a Canoeist and Kayaker.
