Cooper

For two full days at Genesee Country Museum (Mumford, NY, September 24-25, 2016), I worked with master cooper Jerry Walker, under whose tutelage I made the wooden bucket pictured here, including bands, bottom, and hand-made staves (tapered, beveled, curved indside, and mounted outside). (Staves are the mainstay of the cooper's work which includes barrels, washtubs, butter churns, and the like.)
