Boat Passenger

In addition to having been a Riverboat Captain Trainee myself, I have been a passenger on numerous other boats and ships. Twice in January 1971, I crossed the Irish Sea by ferry, once in a storm, and shortly thereafter traversed the English Channel by hovercraft. I have traveled by boat along the Bosporus (Turkey)—where I made the accompanying sketch—and various rivers, including the Rhine (Germany) and the Yukon (Canada). I have also been a boat passenger on many lakes, including Lake Okanagan in British Columbia (on a lake-monster expedition with National Geographic Television) and Loch Ness in Scotland (where I looked for "Nessie"—see photo). (See also Cruise Ship Passenger.)
